Safety at Hay Chat
A good hey starts with feeling safe. Here is what we do on our side, what we ask of you, and — honestly — what no video chat platform can promise.
Our house rules
Every person on Hay Chat agrees to the same short list. Breaking it gets you reported, and reports get acted on:
- Be a real, live person. No recordings, no bots, no pretending to be someone else.
- Keep it friendly. Harassment, hate, and threats end the chat — and your access.
- Adults only. Hay Chat is not a place for minors.
- No pressure. Nobody owes you their time, their contact details, or another minute on camera. Next means next.
What we do on our side
- Moderation. We review reports and remove people who break the rules.
- One-tap exit. Any chat can be ended instantly — you never have to explain leaving.
- Reporting built in. If someone crosses a line, open their profile and report them from there — it opens a short form so we know what happened. It genuinely helps the next person.
- No public profiles. A stranger only knows what you choose to say and show on camera.
What we ask of you
- Guard your details. Keep your full name, address, workplace, and socials to yourself until real trust is earned — which takes more than one good chat.
- Take payment talk as a red flag. Anyone who asks you for money, gift cards, or crypto is not flirting. Tap next, then open their profile and report them from there.
- Stay inside the chat. Moving to another app quickly is a classic pressure move; there is no rush if the person is genuine.
- Trust the awkward feeling. If something feels off, it is off. Tap next — you owe no one a reason.
The honest part
No platform — ours included — can screen every person on earth before they press start. Moderation and reporting shrink the problem; they do not make it zero. What we can promise is that leaving is always one tap away, reports are taken seriously, and you stay in control of what you share.
